Overview

As our Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering and implementing complex Linux / Cloud systems, including all installed software suites and middleware on servers. Provides support in resolving escalated service issues, ensuring system security, and maintaining and overseeing the health of assigned systems to ensure system availability and performance meet organizational requirements. Serves as the key position for support within the IT department and will be called upon to resolve the highest-level technical issues regarding systems and installed software.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, and troubleshooting to support enterprise growth and the corporate business plan.

This is an on-site position in Omaha, Nebraska.

Detailed Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions

1. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance of the Linux and Cloud systems, middleware and software to support a high volume of transactions with high availability and failover capability
2. Collaborate with engineers or software developers in evaluating design solutions and vendor products to determine those that best meet company needs
3. Assists in identifying system data, hardware, or software components required and in monitoring system performance, integrity and security
4. Responsible for providing system security and performance reports to management and to alert management of any suspected issues
5. Assists in system hardware, cloud infrastructure and software patching, upgrades and coordinates system wide maintenance procedures to ensure system availability
6. Coordinates system changes within area of responsibility, including documentation and run books
7. Ensures system standards are documented, maintained and adhered
8. Participates in scheduled on-call duties: Must be available 24 hours/day to receive calls, investigate and solve issues during on-call assignment
9. Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors
10. Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little notice
11. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
12. Abide by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company
13. Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Education

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or Engineering is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

• Three years of relevant experience is required

• Knowledge of Linux (Red Hat, AWS Linux, etc.) operating systems, middleware administration (Apache, Tomcat, Weblogic, JDK, etc.), DevOps automation or CI/CD pipelines (shell or Python scripting, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Git, Terraform, etc.), Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) and Client Server environments
• Knowledge of system performance monitoring (Dynatrace, Solarwinds, Linux logging, etc.), containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) and security auditing / PCI compliance practices
