Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or “SIA”, located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM – meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads. SIA is the safest automotive manufacturing plant in the United States and is also a pillar in the community due to its numerous fundraising activities held onsite, donations to local charities and plentiful volunteer opportunities. SIA is a frontrunner in environmental conservation being the first Zero-Landfill automotive manufacturing plant and the first to have its campus designated a backyard wildlife habitat. SIA has grown tremendously since its 1989 beginnings and continues to be an example of success within the automotive industry.
Outline of Duties:
- Negotiate and lead service contract negotiations, work with legal, and support ongoing commercial issues
- Indirect Parts sourcing activity (strategy, analysis, negotiation; target and schedule achievement)
- Indirect Parts cost reduction activity (strategy, analysis, negotiation; target and schedule achievement)
- Daily activity and support for supplier quality, delivery, development, AP/AR, service parts
- Ability to lead third party contract sourcing and develop contracts to mitigate cost and risk
- Works closely with suppliers and departments to resolve issues critical to the supply chain
- Ability to receive and analyze information (cost evaluations, commercial issues, risk mitigation, strategic sourcing)
- Report and gain approval for activities to upper management (Sourcing, Contracts, Cost Reduction, Projects)
- Continuous development of skills, performance, and workmanship
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Procurement, Supply-Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field of study
- 1-3 years previous purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Access)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply-Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field of study
- Previous knowledge managing or working with supplier contracts
- Basic knowledge of SAP, SAP S4/HANA, and or Ariba procurement software
- Familiarity with Japanese culture and open office environment
