ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and improve the image of Astemo and positive relationship/partnership with the community.
  • Maintain and improve employee morale through Astemo’s employee relations programs including but not limited to employee appreciation events, team-building activities, and meal request and vending systems.
  • Maintain and improve communication throughout the organization by coordinating companywide activities including but not limited to monthly round table meetings and suggestion box program.
  • Maintain and improve work environment and productivity of the organization by coordinating monthly 5S audits, managing conference rooms and equipment, company vehicles, and company cell phones, making travel arrangements, and other office administrative activities.
  • Maintain and improve security of the facility by scan badge control, visitor control, and security guard management.
  • Interpret in internal and external meetings to assist Japanese expatriates and supporters from the group companies. Interpret on the plant floor as needed.
  • Translate business documents such as production reports, technical documents, quality documents, audit documents, presentations, correspondences, and speeches.
  • Assist Japanese expatriates and their families with translation and interpretation involving personal matters.
  • Support day-to-day functions of Administration Department.
  • Support Department Manager for achievement of overall administrative policy/strategy.
  • Other projects to be assigned by Administration Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in the related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Must be fluent in Japanese and English (speaking, reading, and writing in both).
  • Must be familiar with both Japanese and American culture.
  • Must have prior experience in translating/interpreting.
  • Experience in manufacturing company preferred.
  • Strong computer skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision or day-to-day management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the direction and supervision of administration employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

No physical exertion required. Required to move around the facility. Lifting is limited to no more than 30 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Pleasant office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately low. The performance of this position occasionally requires exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment.
