We are seeking a dedicated Senior Environmental Specialist / Environmental Engineer to join our team at Indiana Automotive Fasteners, Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting environmental initiatives, conducting assessments, implementing sustainability programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental conservation, possesses strong analytical skills, and is committed to promoting sustainable practices within our organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and standards set by local, state, and federal agencies. Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Sustainability Initiatives:
Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving resource efficiency. This may include waste reduction programs, energy efficiency projects, and water conservation strategies.
Environmental Monitoring and Sampling:
Design and execute environmental monitoring programs to assess air quality, water quality, and soil contamination levels. Collect samples, analyze data, and interpret results to evaluate environmental performance and identify emerging issues.
Regulatory Compliance Reporting:
Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reports, permit applications, and environmental impact assessments to relevant authorities. Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting to maintain compliance with legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on emerging environmental regulations, technologies, and best practices. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in environmental management systems and practices.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans for environmental incidents, such as spills, leaks, or other environmental hazards. Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure timely and effective response actions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in environmental engineering or related field, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Direct hands-on experience with air quality rules / permitting.
- Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and maintaining the certification or willing to get certified.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before team members, peers and management of the organization. Fluent in English: Japanese as a second language is helpful.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometric functions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to draw inferences, reach conclusions, arrive at solutions, and make decisions based on available evidence. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
