Job Description
Lilly is looking for a hardworking team member to join our Employee Health Services organization. This role supports the implementation of the employer-based services conducted under the direction/supervision of the Lilly Department Manager and the Lilly Occupational Health Medical Director. Under the oversight of the site clinical staff, the medical assistant (MA) will be responsible for assisting with direct patient care including emergencies, work-related injury and illnesses, health surveillance, and personal health care. In addition, the MA will assist with administrative support duties such as front desk support and record management.
In this role, the MA assists with direct care for employees with acute and chronic illness or work-related illness or injury as needed. Key Objectives:
- Assists nurses, advanced practice provider, and physicians in the delivery of direct patient care that may include but not be limited to the following tasks:
- Treatment of acute illnesses, infections, and injuries
- Procedures that standard to the Health Surveillance Program such as urinalysis, phlebotomy, vision screening, audiometric testing, spirometry, vital signs, and injections.
- Operates within the scope and standing of departmental operating procedures
- Prepares and administers employee’s immunotherapy injections under the supervision of the site’s advanced practice providers and/or physicians
- Applies universal precautions and works with potential for biological exposures, including blood and bodily fluids.
- Rotates between Lilly Corporate Center and Lilly Technology Center South as needed
- Accurately captures patient data to ensure integrity of medical record
- Maintains compliance with HIPAA and Patient Privacy
- Assists with treatment of occupational illnesses and injuries
- Works in tandem with Lilly pharmacist and clinical staff to provide travel immunizations and flu shot clinics, as needed per site
- Participates in offsite wellbeing offerings for teammates on as needed basis
- Maintains a sense of professionalism in the work environment and provides excellent customer service to employees and coworkers
- Assists with administrative duties as needed that include but not be limited to the following tasks:
- Front desk support, such as scheduling appointments, answering calls and voicemail, and greeting and directing teammates in the clinic lobby
- Scanning and indexing of documents into the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Copying and filing of records
- Maintaining consistent and orderly supplies for patient care including ordering and stocking and maintenance of the supply areas.
Skill and Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum 2 Years of experience in medical field
- Successful completion of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
Additional Preferences:
- Understanding of medical terminology, keyboarding, recordkeeping, and front office procedures
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic procedures, pharmaceutical principles, the administration of medications, and first aid
- Previous experience in ambulatory, primary and/or occupational health care preferred
- Maintains yearly training of Basic Life Support
- Current hearing conservation and spirometry certifications are preferred
Additional Information:
This position works second shift. Typical schedule is 2:30pm EST – 11:00pm EST Monday-Thursday and 1:30pm EST – 10pm EST on Friday.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$16.58 – $39.06
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
