Summary:

Cover logistics compliance areas of the business. Prepare documentation required for customs clearance, trade agreements, and customer requirements such as United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA), Country of Origin (COO), American Automotive Labelling Act (AALA) and other agreements as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Government documentation completion with compliance accordance –

o Proof export and import documentation such as entry summary, commercial invoices, packing lists, ISF data sheet, etc.

o Complete and declare Tooling and Assists to Customs as notified by Purchasing and Sales Department.

o Complete customer requirements such as USMCA, COO, AALA, CAFE to appropriate customer portals.

o Maintain Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) certification for MTEA Franklin.

o Research trade agreements and customs requirements for MTEA compliance.

o Complete PSC, Protests, Prior Disclosures, EEI Audits and Reconciliations.

o Ensure shipments meet Export Control Regulations.

o Research US Import and Export regulations when needed.
• Supplier Management –

o Obtain COO Certificates, AALA documentation, HTS classification from all vendors annually or with new requirements throughout the year.
• HTS Coding –

o Determine the HTS coding of new material and part number.

o Maintain accuracy of the HTS coding and COO in ERP System.
• Management Support –

o Complete monthly management reports as necessary.

  • Freight –
    • Freight study for budget and planning purposes.
    • Maintain Standard Operational Procedure for Brokers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by MTEA management.

Job Requirements

  • BS degree in a related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in international transportation and documentation requirements.
  • Background in the regulations of US Customs compliance.
  • Ability to arrange and prepare paperwork necessary for customs clearance.
  • Ability to track shipments and communicate with logistics companies.
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Superior administrative and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) across all internal levels and Global Company sites, including sister plants and business partners, fluent in Japanese a plus.
  • Attend Customs related classes as deemed necessary for position.
  • Some business travel as needed.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to occasionally move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit throughout the workday.
