Texas Medical Center’s (TMC) mission is to support the health, education and research needs of Texas and the world.
The TMC Innovation Factory empowers entrepreneurs from across the world to push the limits of discovery and bring their solutions to life faster with the support of TMCi accelerators and programming, industry partners, and the greater TMC ecosystem. TMC Biodesign, a program for entrepreneurs to create solutions for healthcare’s greatest unmet needs, is housed in the Innovation Factory. These entrepreneurs are guided through an innovation approach which consists of identifying, inventing, and implementing healthcare solutions.
POSITION OVERVIEW
TMC is seeking a dynamic Program Manager for its Accelerator for Cancer Therapeutics program to guide logistics, manage program administration, and ensure the success of multiple program cohorts. The Manager will work closely with program teams, community stakeholders, consultants, and entrepreneurs to maintain smooth operations.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, solutions-driven, and have a strong service-first mindset. They must have excellent communication skills, fluency in Japanese, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be able to anticipate the needs of a diverse, entrepreneurial community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and collaborate with program teams to define goals, content, deliverables, and timelines for concurrent programs.
- Develop workflows, provide operational support, and ensure efficient program execution.
- Serve as the primary point of support for program participants (startup founders and key personnel), assisting them in understanding the program content, navigating the onboarding process, and effectively utilizing TMC resources.
- Manage and report on program deliverables, milestones, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Identify and creatively resolve business barriers.
- Ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND SUCCESS FACTORS
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing full-cycle programs with multiple stakeholders, preferably in healthcare, oncology, or biotech settings.
- Previous experience in an oncology-focused or biotech startup, particularly in areas like early-stage drug development, clinical trials, or medical device innovation.
- Deep familiarity with the biotech startup ecosystem, including fundraising, regulatory challenges (FDA, EMA), clinical studies, and market access strategies.
- Proven ability to identify and connect program participants with relevant advisors, industry experts, and key stakeholders across oncology, biotech, and innovation sectors.
- Understanding of the unique needs of startups in the oncology space, including business model development, commercialization, partnerships, and technology transfer.
Education/Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a healthcare-related field, business, or 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Fluency in Japanese is required.
- Demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and healthcare.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
