Purpose of the Job
In this role, the Manager, Internal Control will serve as the Senior Internal Auditor for the Americas Finance team, leading the Internal Control Evaluation & Implementation for IPO Preparation, ensuring Corporate Policy is followed as well as creating policies and Standard Operating Procedures where needed, and provide Finance and Accounting Advising as needed to the organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Senior Internal Auditor
- Conducts financial/operational audits and internal control assessments/investigations by examining and verifying accounting, statistical, or operational records and/or procedures of internal and/or external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of financial and control systems, material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures.
- Examines records to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, agreements, and policies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management systems, and financial reporting processes, and Investigate problems, which includes walkthroughs and testing of processes and controls
- Prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management.
- Conduct auditing activities under Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Support divisions and groups in evaluating and recommending improvements to business practices, processes, and control procedures
- Lead and provide supervisory support to other internal auditor(s) on accomplishing projects
- Internal Control Evaluation & Implementation – IPO (Initial Public Offering) Preparation
- Support and coordinate J-SOX implementation, which is part of the requirements to comply with IPO eligibility. This includes assisting and leading internal resources and external consultants while developing process flowcharts, narratives, and risk matrices.
- Provide perspective and feasible granularity of internal control structures and designs at i-PRO Americas
- Support the Treasurer and Director of Finance in implementing various countermeasures to improve control weaknesses and deficiencies,
- Corporate Policy and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) Writing
- Evaluate and prepare a draft of policies and SOPs, primarily in Finance/Accounting and related areas
- Finance and Accounting Advisory
- With high expertise and knowledge of i-PRO Americas histories, provide support and advice to Finance Leaders and colleagues
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Internal audit: 5 years (Required)
- Sarbanes-Oxley: 5 years (Required)
- financial and operational audits: 5 years (Required)
- Accounting, statistical, or operational records: 3 years (Required)
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting or BS/BA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum 12 years of diversified accounting experience with at least 4 years as Controller or Finance/Accounting Manager
Competencies, Skills & Knowledge
- Internal auditors should have strong skills in attention to detail, analytical skills, communication, integrity, time management, adaptability, professional skepticism, and risk management
- Presentation skills to enable communication of internal audit findings and recommendations to top management and have the knowledge to answer all related questions
- Considerable analytical abilities that enable him or her to conduct critical and time-consuming research to solve complex problems
- Advanced computer literacy in spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail and related software, in addition to SAP or equivalent
