Overview:

Nidec Drive Technology America Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Product Engineer with a focus on software development to join our dynamic engineering team. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support our product offerings in the drive technology sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, combined with software development expertise, and a passion for problem-solving in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement software solutions for control systems, embedded systems, and user interfaces for Nidec’s drive products.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to software development best practices and coding standards.
Collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of software with product hardware.
Support the creation and maintenance of software tools and automation for product testing, diagnostics, and deployment.
Participate in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring that software development aligns with product design and customer specifications.
Develop and maintain software documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and user manuals.
Contribute to the development of system architecture, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and reliability of software components.
Design and execute software tests, including unit, integration, and system-level testing.
Troubleshoot and debug software issues, ensuring that the product meets the required quality standards.
Work with the quality assurance team to develop software validation plans and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying this knowledge to drive innovation within the product engineering team.
Actively contribute to process improvements in software development, quality assurance, and product deployment.
Work closely with other engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing, to resolve technical issues and ensure product performance.
Provide technical support and training to internal teams and customers as needed.
Communicate software design and technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
1-4 years of experience in software development, preferably within the industrial automation, drive technology, or related sectors.
Experience with embedded systems programming, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and microcontroller-based systems.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java.
Familiarity with software development tools like Git, JIRA, and continuous integration/deployment systems.
Knowledge of control systems, drive algorithms, and motor control software is a plus.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D modeling, ERP software, and Microsoft Office.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to travel as needed for customer visits and meetings (up to 5%).
Ability to effectively collaborate with our Japanese parent company.
JLPT: N2 or more (or equivalent Japanese skill).
