Job Summary

Daiso’s Category Analyst are responsible for selecting merchandise, analyzing performance, planning store communication and handling the flow inventory between the company and its suppliers. They will work with Daiso Japan to place orders, track deliveries, and ensure that everything arrives on time and in good condition. Associate Merchants will review seasonality and trends to create purchasing plans that increase revenue in their assigned categories. Merchandising Purchasing Managers to assist them in tracking and maintaining appropriate inventory levels, helping to ensure Daiso stores are able to carry the full assortment of our merchandise.

Essential Job Duties

  • Utilize Daiso’s internal systems to create sales and inventory data, generating reports and calculating order quantities, and other metrics as needed.
  • Create and place inventory orders, both directly to vendors and though various systems
  • Utilize data, customer trends, and industry data to inform category strategy
  • Promptly responds to emails & tickets from customers, buyers, vendors, and warehouses pertaining to purchase orders, inventory management, transportation and impaired inventory issues.
  • Monitor incoming shipment information, compare to current inventory, and prepare plans to distribute new and seasonal items to stores.
  • Assist in registering new items within Daiso’s systems, including pricing by region
  • Assist in updating item attributes on an as needed basis
  • Collect and maintain records of orders placed versus orders fulfilled, and generate weekly and monthly fulfillment reports
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications and Work-Related Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Associates’ degree in marketing, business or related a plus but not required.
  • 1 year related experience in merchandising, inventory management, data analysis, or invoice processing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • A passion for retail buying and customer trends is a plus!
  • Ability to reprioritize tasks and work frequently
  • Resourceful and able to research problems and recommend solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, outgoing, willing to help others and openness to learn
  • Show resiliency and positive attitude towards change
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with broad/dynamic workload to meet deadlines in a very fast-paced environment
  • Proven team player, self-motivated, independent-thinker
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in software such as Microsoft Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong math skills and understanding of Excel formulas and pivot tables.
  • Excellent English skills are a must.
  • Familiarity with the Japanese language are a plus but are not required.
