We are looking for a talented and outgoing Sushi Chef to craft high-quality sushi and deliver memorable culinary experiences to our guests. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, setting up and maintaining your station, and working closely with the culinary team to develop innovative menu offerings and specials. This role goes beyond food preparation – you’ll also engage with guests by providing samples, answering questions, and participating in special events, including chef-led experiences.

This is a part-time position with required evening availability on Fridays and Saturdays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare sushi items to high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and breakdown of sushi station daily.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary team to develop new menu items, seasonal specials, and event concepts.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with local health regulations.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, offering tastings and educating them about the dishes.
  • Support execution of private events, wine dinners, and other culinary-driven guest experiences.
  • Monitor product inventory and communicate ordering needs to the kitchen leadership team.
  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and properly storing sushi-grade fish and other perishable items.
  • Follow all property and kitchen policies, including those related to uniform, attendance, and kitchen safety.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sushi preparation or a Japanese culinary environment is preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and an understanding of proper fish handling, slicing techniques, and sushi rice preparation.
  • Ability to work cleanly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Comfortable engaging with guests and representing the culinary team in public settings.
  • Must be available to work Friday and Saturday evenings; additional shifts may be scheduled based on business needs and events.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) required.

Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is $22.00/Hr. – $25.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum USD hourly rate: 22.00
Maximum USD hourly rate: 25.00
