Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We’ve grown nearly 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as “Culinary Ambassador” promoting Japanese foods worldwide.

Since 2011, our affiliate, Yamasho Inc. takes pride in providing a variety of restaurant items ranging from non-food to dry and frozen food products to our restaurant customers in its current location in Elk Grove, IL. Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm

Essential Job Functions
• Analyze data on sales results and develop plans to address performance gaps.
• Achieve monthly and annual sales targets, with a strong focus on expanding sales of sake and other alcohol products.
• Research the market trends and attend trade shows to stay informed of new products, services, or other information that interests customers.
• Identify new sales opportunities and strategies to grow sales in the designated categories.
• Educate and train sales team on product knowledge, including specifications, recipes, menu suggestions, and cultural relevance.
• Support the sales team with tools, resources, and coaching to improve their ability to satisfy customers’ needs with the Company’s sake offerings.
• Troubleshoot product problems and handle complaints.
• Visit customers and prospects to present products, build relationships, and provide sales support.
• Coordinate Purchasing, Marketing, and Sales teams to stay updated on product availability and trends.
• Conduct or lead internal training sessions and tasting events to deepen team knowledge and customer engagement.
• Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials and product guides.
• Coordinate urgent or custom deliveries in collaboration with warehouse and delivery teams.
• Maintain customer satisfaction through responsive service and sales increasing solutions.
• Participate in sales meetings and other company events outside normal hours when necessary.
• Collect account receivable in a timely manner while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Use Company ERP systems to input and manage customer orders and sales data accurately.
• Attend semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend.
• Travel inside/outside of State as needed.
• Organize and host meetings as needed.
• Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
• Maintain and safely operate the Company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy.
• Maintain customer information in the Company database accordingly.
• Other duties as required from manager.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to drive for a majority of the daily working hours
• Ability to sit in a car for extended periods of time
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasional
• Working Conditions

Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office

Location: Indoor in the office or at customer sites (restaurants, wholesalers, distributors, etc.), travelling

Other Requirements
• Business level English is required.
• To have and maintain a clean driving record
• Maintain a positive attitude
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• Able to work independently and as a team
• High School Diploma required.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience required. 5+ years of relevant experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills
• Extensive knowledge of the specialty products – Sake.
• Basic mathematical knowledge – markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
• Problem solving skills
• Time and priority management skills
• Leadership skills
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
• Communications and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of ERP systems, especially Microsoft NAV, highly preferred.
