The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in managing accounting functions, including the month-end close process, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal control audits. You will ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies while providing valuable financial insights to senior management.

Main Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate with third party accounting firm to manage accounting functions, including the month-end close process, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal control audits
  • Take ownership of the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement and ensure its accuracy and completeness
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly internal financial reports and supporting schedules for senior management within tight deadlines
  • Manage cash deposits, daily cash reconciliation, credit card chargebacks, and gift card issuance
  • Attend HOD meetings and deliver comprehensive presentations on weekly operational financials
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Review reports prepared by third party accounting firm to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Maintain books and records for administrative entities and compile data for government-mandated reports
  • Conduct variance analysis on monthly expense balances and collaborate with department heads to explain variances and record adjustments
  • Provide expert accounting support to other Zuma locations as required, maintaining consistency and accuracy

What We Look For

Our ideal candidate embodies our values and the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with experience in a senior accountant role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; CPA certification preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office Suite applications
  • Familiarity with GAAP and federal and state financial regulations
  • Experience drafting and analyzing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and performing cash reconciliation, bank deposits, and check handling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail
  • Prior experience in the hospitality industry is a plus but not required
