Situated in Downtown’s 2nd Street District, Austin Proper Hotel and Residences offers an artful immersion in lifestyle and wellbeing. Essentials include 238 rooms and suites; 99 branded residences; four unique settings for dining and drink; a focus on wellness with a dedicated spa and fitness center; and a variety of atmospheric event spaces. And it wouldn’t be Proper without a 5th floor pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and sunset views.

A new, intimate tasting menu restaurant is set to open at Austin Proper Hotel later this year. This chef-driven project will focus on precision and storytelling through food, offering a highly personalized and immersive dining experience. The culinary team brings international acclaim, and a philosophy rooted in discipline, creativity, and innovation. The concept will be rooted in French and Japanese styles.

The Server/Host is a multifunctional hospitality professional responsible for managing the guest journey from greeting to farewell. This hybrid role covers responsibilities across hosting, table service, beverage support, guest interaction, front-of-house presentation, and is expected to maintain timing, attentiveness, and elegance throughout the service progression.

Key Responsibilities:
• Host and greet all arriving guests using name if known
• Present oshibori and welcome drinks promptly and gracefully
• Explain dining format and assist in guiding guest expectations
• Serve drinks and pairings as cued by kitchen or General Manager
• Clear and reset counter settings between courses and seatings
• Engage guests throughout service, assisting with dish explanations as needed
• Monitor guest comfort and adjust lighting or table setup as appropriate
• Coordinate guest pacing and support beverage timing
• Present checks in a discreet, timely manner
• Escort departing guests with omiyage and farewell
• Assist with front of house restocking and prep of menus, oshibori, and table settings
• Oversee tidiness and readiness of front-of-house and entry area
• Support omiyage setup and presentation logistics
• Manage guest requests or feedback in coordination with General Manager
• Maintain direct reporting line to the General Manager

Additional Functions:
• Record guest feedback and flag notes for VIP or dietary adjustments
• Assist in menu printing and guest pacing documentation
• Coordinate with beverage lead during service flow
• Participate in pre-service briefings and closing debriefs
• Assist FOH team members with overflow tasks when necessary

Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years experience in fine dining, omakase, or luxury hospitality service
• Strong guest interaction and multitasking ability
• Comfort serving beverages and describing dishes with composure
• Knowledge of Japanese service etiquette and dining formats
• Valid food handler and TABC certification (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a dual-role server/host position
• Familiarity with sake, tea, or wine pairing service
• Experience handling boutique reservations or VIP guest tracking
