Manager – 1st Procurement

Procurement Department

Position Overview:

The Manager, Direct Procurement, manages and leads the purchase of materials and supplies from vendors and coordinates the preparation of material and supply purchase orders in accordance with corporate policies and requirements.

Outline of duties:

  • Manage up to 2 Group Leaders and 10 staff members.
  • Oversee up to 120 suppliers.
  • Oversee up to $2.5 Billion in annual company spend.
  • Manage SIA’s Controlled Steel Program
  • Manage all Subaru Centric Suppliers.
  • Lead SIA Subaru Centric umbrella strategy activities
  • Lead the supplier’s director / executive-level to support SIA goals, targets, initiatives, and SIA staff member activities.
  • Oversee activities of the section: sourcing, annual cost-reduction, and other functions to achieve the targets and objectives of the Procurement department.
  • Oversee training of staff members in the areas of analysis, negotiation, reporting, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Oversee performance management for 1st Procurement section.
  • Oversee section budget for parts, tooling, development, and other expenses; ensure budgeted items are closed per budgetary guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Support other groups, sections, and departments as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Five years of relevant experience
  • Previous management and/or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and the automotive industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Understanding of Japanese business culture
  • Understanding of Japanese language
