  1. General Summary: Manager of the Accounting and Finance department, and a key member of the Plant Management team. This position is primarily responsible for the accuracy and control of all transactions impacting the financial performance of the plant. Additionally, the Accounting & Finance Manager is a business partner to the Plant Management team; providing relevant and timely financial information based operational results. The Accounting & Finance Manager leads the month-end closing and reporting process as well as the annual planning and monthly forecast initiatives. Finally, the Accounting & Finance Manager will generally have a staff comprised of two to five specialist and / or analysts depending on business needs.
  1. Essential Job Functions:
  2. Manages the month-end closing to ensure financial statements are accurately reported in coordination with company policy and IFRS.
  3. Verifies any ERP modules and system sub-modules are interfacing correctly to the general ledger.
  4. Tracks all closing journal entries to ensure proper posting and reversal when needed.
  5. Reviews the trial balance and account reconciliations to assure accounts represent real financial positions.
  6. Reports financial results to the Plant Management team and Corporate Head Office.
  7. Completes reporting packages using Hyperion Financial Management software.
  8. Analyzes results compared to plan and forecast providing insightful commentary.
  9. Participates in monthly Cost Committee meetings discussing KPI’s (key performance indicators) and financial results.
  10. Leads the annual planning process and prepares monthly forecasts based on performance indicators.
  11. Facilitates development of 5-year business plan based on strategic assumptions.
  12. Hosts audits with the Internal Controls team and external auditors when required.
  13. Facilitates and monitors internal control measures by maintaining documents of key controls and measuring the actual processes against the controls.
  14. Validates the perpetual inventory is reflective of all inventory transactions (i.e. shipping, receiving, transfers and scrap).
  15. Ensures bill of materials and standard costs are accurate and relevant to business conditions (i.e. annual cost roll, new products and engineering changes).
  16. Leads physical inventory events in coordination with the plant Production Control team.
  17. Hosts annual fixed asset audit of all plant capital.
  18. Corresponds with the Sales and Purchasing teams to ensure pricing meets contractual agreements.
  19. Champions cost improvement initiatives with the Plant Management team.
  20. Provides approval for plant purchases when authority is required.
  21. Supports the Plant Management team with ad-hoc requests.
  • Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • MBA and other professional certifications preferred.

Experience:

  • Greater than eight (8) years of relevant experience required. Manufacturing/Automotive setting experience preferred.
  • Greater than four (4) years of leadership experience as a supervisor in a professional environment required.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • General understanding and working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Proven business knowledge in corporate manufacturing.
  • Effective leadership and people skills while working in a diverse environment.
  • Active listener with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lead projects with quick deadlines and short lead times.
  • Decision making using a standard problem resolution format.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Organization (5S) and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to present at multiple levels within an organization.
  • Basic math skills and analysis capability.
  • Strong customer service orientation with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Must be self-motivated, goal oriented and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Language Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful, but are not required.

Computer/Software:

  • System experience (Oracle, Hyperion, Kronos, and various ERP systems preferred).
  • Requires high level of proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
  1. Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

Travel: Must be willing to travel 0-10% of the time.

  1. Physical Demands:

Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds. The ability to travel by automobile and airplane are both required.
