Summary of the Position:
Hitachi Industrial Equipment & Solutions America, LLC (Hitachi-IESA) is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Operations Management (Sr. Director) to lead and oversee all operational activities across Hitachi-IESA and Telesis Technologies, Inc. throughout the Americas.
This senior leadership role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, driving cross-functional alignment, and implementing systems and reporting structures that support scalable growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership and operational expertise to ensure financial performance, process optimization, and long-term organizational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of organizational operations to ensure efficiency, strategic alignment, and sustainable growth. This includes:
- Operations Management: Streamline cross-functional processes, enforce policies, and ensure quality and productivity across the organization.
- Strategic Execution: Translate company goals into actionable plans and integrate strategic initiatives into daily operations.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with finance to manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead high-performing teams through performance management, development programs, and talent strategies.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders to support business continuity and growth.
- Risk & Compliance: Identify operational risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Performance Monitoring: Leverage data and reporting to track performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support informed decision-making.
This role plays a critical part in scaling operations, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and driving long-term value.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain management
- Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineering-driven environment
- Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and multi-site operations across a regional or global footprint
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and execution capabilities
- Expertise in process optimization, continuous improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), and KPI-driven management
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost controls, and forecasting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills
- Ability to build consensus, foster collaboration, and drive results in a matrixed or global organization
- Familiarity with ERP systems and operational analytics tools
- Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as needed
- Experience working in Japanese or multinational corporate environments is a plus
For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $67,248 – $84,060. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
