Position Summary
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within our manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all electrical components supporting production and facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and control panels
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to support production needs
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and safety programs
Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification
- Minimum 5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrical experience
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and basic programming
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Skills
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or Tier One supplier environment
- Familiarity with Japanese manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S)
- Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, and high-voltage equipment
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and hydraulics
- Bilingual (English/Japanese) a plus, but not required
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing plant environment
- Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial machinery
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory
- May involve working at heights or in confined spaces
