Job purpose

Plan and execute tests to validate systems and components by using existing test code or by developing new test/experimental methods. Judge test results according to product requirements and deliver decisions to stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Leads the testing of systems and components to ensure that they meet product specifications and Kubota internal standards
  • Audits test codes to make sure that they accurately represent the customer usage model
  • Design tests and collaborate with development teams to accurately depict the conditions found in real world usage
  • Responsible for creating test templates or plans that outline the test equipment, data collection plans, and clear operating instructions
  • Responsible for designing and periodically building test fixtures or making improvements to existing fixtures
  • Responsible for ensuring that all test equipment has been calibrated/verified before use
  • Leads the setup, execution, and teardown of testing and ensures the test plan is strictly followed
  • Ensures adherence to test safety policies and actively seeks improvements
  • Conducts risk assessments prior to the initiation of any new test activities
  • Creates and distributes test reports that present the data collected, abnormalities in testing, and the reasoning behind conclusions
  • The team member must also be able to work extended and flexible work hours to interface with workers on all shifts as well as international business units and must be physically able to travel domestically and internationally (Up to 10% of travel)

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering-related field
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a test and evaluation role
  • Can setup Dewesoft/DAQ equipment and most of the following test instrumentation: load cells, thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers, microphones, displacement sensors, digital sensors, GPS, current/voltage probes, CAN readers, torque transducers, and pressure transducers
  • Ability to post-process data utilizing GlyphWorks or similar programs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Computer skills including Windows and Google-based programs
  • Introductory-level knowledge of vehicle systems: structures, hydraulics, electronics, power transmission systems, braking systems, diesel and gasoline engines and related systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Turf vehicles and their respective markets
  • Experience working with mixed Japanese and American teams and leadership
  • Has participated in a leadership/management role
  • Knowledge of current ANSI/ISO standards.
  • Has led improvement projects that have had a direct effect on productivity or efficiency.

Physical Requirements

Team member uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; ascend stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. It may be necessary to travel between offices in our facilities and it could be in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions. The team member must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
