Who We’re Looking For
Toyota’s Systems Engineering and Planning -4 (Wire Harness and Packaging) Department is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer. This role is responsible for wire harness circuitry design and development of power distribution systems that support every electrical system in the vehicle.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this position will support SEP-4’s mission to enrich customer lives through safe, responsible, and reliable mobility by delivering world-class electrical infrastructure systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create and review circuitry design outputs:
- Power Distribution (Fuse and Relay)
- Joint and wire-to-wire design
- CAN communication and layout
- Earthing layout
- Wiring diagrams and connector drawings
- Wire harness part variations (part dividers)
- Build/maintain circuitry development schedules aligned to WH routing and vehicle milestones.
- Coordinate wiring specification requests across Z groups and close out with system owners.
- Create/maintain production & prototype parts lists; issue ECIs and PPRs as needed.
- Manage supplier design requests for parts (power distribution box, fuses, terminals, connectors).
- Lead supplier design-in members; allocate tasks, ensure schedules are met, resolve issues, and report to management.
- Collaborate with routing/project leaders to address WH-related issues.
- Support prototype and mass production trials, troubleshooting WH concerns onsite.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Knowledge of parts list/BOM creation
- Knowledge of wire harness circuitry design processes
- Supplier collaboration experience
- Vehicle build trial support experience and troubleshooting skills
- Leadership on vehicle projects or company initiatives
- Ability to interpret wiring specifications and detect/correct errors
- Knowledge of WH manufacturing processes (terminal crimping, splicing, connector selection, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Added Bonus If You Have
- CATIA or 3D wire harness modeling experience
- CR5000 or Cabling Designer experience
- Python programming/coding experience
- TBP completion
- Proficiency with Toyota systems (New-SMS, G-SMS, Tech Notices)
- Japanese language skills
