About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial, accounting, and business planning functions for our multi-unit restaurant organization. The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive team, driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and long-term growth. The ideal candidate has deep experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit consumer businesses and a proven track record building scalable financial infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Financial Planning
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies and growth plans.
- Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to support strategic decisions, including expansion, new concept development, and capital investments.
- Monitor key financial and operational KPIs across all restaurant units and corporate departments.
Financial Operations & Controls
- Oversee all accounting, finance, payroll, treasury, and tax functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and liquidity planning.
Restaurant-Specific Financial Management
- Ensure accuracy of daily sales reporting, inventory management, and cost of goods and labor tracking.
- Analyze store-level P&Ls, identify trends, and partner with operations to improve profitability.
- Standardize financial procedures across all locations, including cash handling, vendor management, and POS reconciliation.
- Support menu pricing strategies, prime cost control, and operational efficiencies.
Systems, Technology & Process Improvement
- Lead the selection, integration, and optimization of systems such as accounting platforms, POS systems, forecasting tools, and inventory solutions.
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to support rapid growth and multi-unit scalability.
Corporate Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including sales tax, payroll tax, and regulatory reporting.
- Lead financial audits, tax planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, insurance programs, and capital structure.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Growth Initiatives
- Evaluate investment opportunities, new unit development, and potential acquisitions.
- Conduct financial modeling, due diligence, and integration planning.
- Advise the CEO and Board on valuation, deal structures, and capital deployment.
Executive Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, building high-performing capabilities across the department.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, HR, marketing, supply chain, and technology.
- Communicate financial performance and strategic insights to the CEO, Board, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- 10-15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Experience as CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent in restaurants, hospitality, retail, or multi-unit operations.
- Deep understanding of restaurant financial drivers: sales mix, prime costs, unit-level economics, and labor models.
- Experience raising capital, managing banking relationships, and supporting growth initiatives.
- Proven track record of developing teams, systems, and financial infrastructure in a scaling organization.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and executive-level presentation skills.
