Job Description
Need 3 to 4 students available to work Spring 2026
Duties will include collecting,processing, arranging and describing historic materials, updating records, and evaluating items for storage as well as creating projects for display.
Applicants must have respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials and historic artifacts.
Must have strong research skills, decent reading stamina and be detail oriented.
Inventory and data entry are large part of this position accurate work is required.
Preferred qualifications: Applicant must be able to maintain adequate communication and professional expectations of attendance and punctuality. They must have attention to detail, have legible printing, and have some experience working with paperwork. Basic computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products (primarily excel and Microsoft word), scanning software and hardware (especially the type which exist in the library), as well as experiences navigating and utilizing databases is necessary. Applicants should have experience using Canva in a creative capacity. Have the ability to work and follow department procedures, tutorials and policies without close supervision. Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff members and student assistants to create projects and presentations. Applicants interested in the Student Archives position must have a curious mind, and sense of responsibility towards their work and in preserving an accurate and human historical record.
For at least one position: Ability to read and write Japanese, and do light translation from Japanese to English.

Hours: 8-10 hours/ week between the hours of 9 to 5, Monday through Friday during January to May 2026.
It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule,
except in cases of emergencies, academic-related accommodations, or otherwise communicated to supervisors. Hours may be negotiated.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, experience and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed here.
