THE WORK
Position Assignment: Support the execution of Pilot Training Center (PTC) operations for the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) at Nyutabaru Air Base, Japan.

The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin Training Team and Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) to fulfill F-35B training objectives in Nyutabaru, Japan.

Contract Instructor (CI) reporting – CIs report to the Lead Instructor. They will be fully qualified to meet all applicable requirements and will deliver instruction in both the classroom and on Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs). CIs serve as the focal point for technical content of courseware development and revisions. Their deep knowledge of Joint Technical Data (JTD), service publications, and aircraft systems enables them to provide accurate, consistent lesson material across a broad spectrum of training products. An understanding of syllabus flow and lesson sequencing helps streamline instruction for formal course students.

Contract Instructor Responsibilities
• Conduct quality academic instruction that satisfies applicable formal course syllabi and instruction guide requirements.
• Conduct quality ATD instruction, fulfill syllabus and mission guide requirements, and adhere to published Training and Readiness standards.
• Maintain weapons system expertise.
• Prepare classrooms or briefing rooms before each scheduled lesson or ATD mission.
• Clean up classrooms or briefing rooms, returning them to pre class or pre mission condition.
• Evaluate and record student academic performance and ATD results; verbally debrief all errors committed.
• Provide remedial academic or ATD instruction when required.
• Coordinate recommended corrective actions and remedial training with the Lead Instructor and active duty supervisors.
• Conduct student academic evaluations IAW applicable syllabi and achieve 100 % correction by reviewing incorrect responses with students.
• Monitor courseware currency within assigned academic and trainer areas; submit revision recommendations to the Lead Instructor.
• Support lesson plan and mission guide revision efforts.
• Assist with ATD scenario generation and programming when directed by the Lead Instructor.
• Review test analysis and critique summaries to identify instructional gaps and propose revisions.
• Coordinate lesson revision inputs with the Lead Instructor, as needed.
• Review monthly/quarterly flying literature, safety reports, and Service publications for updates to be incorporated into training material.
• Perform related additional duties as assigned by the Training Operations Manager/Lead Instructor.
• Meet suspense dates for new lessons and lesson revisions.
• Be available for student assistance, questions, and ATD missions when not scheduled for formal academic instruction, ATD instruction, or courseware development/revision.
• Provide instruction across all instructor operating stations, including but not limited to: Forward Air Controller, Airborne Intercept Controller, Air Traffic Control, and threat simulation.

Job may require flexible work schedule to provide coverage for on-site customer requirements.

Basic Qualifications
• Candidate must have active secret clearance and be able to qualify and hold a SAP clearance.
• Final clearance adjudication within the last five years.
• Must have a minimum of 1,000 hours experience in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft as a pilot or Weapons System Operator (WSO).
• Must have experience as a Military Instructor Pilot (IP) or WSO and multi-ship flight lead in tactical fighter aircraft
• Must be willing to support flexible work hours to align with customer operational schedule
• Position may require candidate to participate in deployed operations to support customer requirements
• Strong, proven verbal communications skill
• Proven successful experience with instructional products and services, evaluating pilot training and leading pilot students
• Basic MS Office suite skills

Desired skills
• Experience with F-35 program highly desired
• Experience with F-35 pilot training curriculum
• F-35 system knowledge
• F-35 Full Mission Simulator experience
• Familiarity with the F-35 ALIS program
• Prior experience in delivering Military Pilot Academic and Simulator Training in fourth and/or fifth generation tactical fighter aircraft
• Experience with advanced sensor systems such as NVS, LANTIRN, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest weapons inventory.
• Graduate of formal military Academic Instructor Course (AIC).
• Formal Training Unit (FTU) or Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Instructor Pilot experience
• U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) Graduate
• Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Graduate
• Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC)
• Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner (SEFE); NATOPS Evaluator experience
• Previous experience with Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) customer.
• Familiarity with Japan flight rules, procedures, and operations.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $118,700 – $209,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $136,500 – $236,555. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
