POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as the principal Solution Architect for Digital Transformation, responsible for defining and driving the enterprise-wide architecture vision that enables scalable, secure, and modern digital platforms. This role provides technical leadership across cloud, edge systems, DevOps, data, and AI ecosystems, ensuring alignment with business strategy and transformation objectives. Partners with executive stakeholders, product teams, security, and global engineering groups to deliver sustainable architectures, platform capabilities, and engineering standards that accelerate value delivery and operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Architecture & Digital Transformation Leadership
- Owns the multi-year digital transformation architecture vision and roadmap aligned to business strategy, OKRs, and value streams.
- Translates business needs into target-state architectures, reference models, and transformation runways with measurable KPIs.
- Advocates for product-centric engineering, platform models, and modern software development practices.
Enterprise Architecture & Technical Governance
- Defines enterprise reference architectures for hybrid/multi-cloud, edge/IoT, and associated data and security layers.
- Establishes architecture principles, non-functional requirements, decision records, and design patterns.
- Creates reusable architectural blueprints, accelerators, and landing zones supporting scale and compliance.
Cloud-Native & Platform Engineering
- Leads design of cloud-native platforms including containers, serverless, service mesh, and API ecosystems.
- Guides microservices decomposition, event-driven architectures, and cloud-edge integration patterns.
- Provides architecture sign-off on scalability, performance, and resiliency decisions.
DevOps, SRE, and Automation Leadership
- Defines enterprise DevOps standards including CI/CD, IaC, GitOps, and automated testing strategies.
- Leads adoption of SRE practices such as SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and observability frameworks.
- Drives automation of compliance controls, security policies, and platform configurations.
Security, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Enables security-by-design through threat modeling, workload identity, encryption standards, and automated controls.
- Ensures continuous compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
- Leads architecture risk assessments and approves changes to overall security posture.
Reliability, Resilience & Incident Leadership
- Defines architectures for high availability, multi-region resilience, and disaster recovery.
- Leads escalation during major incidents and directs systemic corrective actions.
- Establishes service maturity frameworks and lifecycle governance.
Financial Stewardship & Cost Optimization
- Conducts TCO/ROI analysis for architectural initiatives and platform investments.
- Implements cloud cost governance and optimization strategies.
- Provides transparency into cloud costs and aligns spending with business value.
Program Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provides enterprise-level technical leadership across programs and platforms.
- Collaborates and aligns strategy with global headquarters in Japan
- Prepares and delivers executive-level technical presentations, reviews, and proposal content.
Innovation, Market Intelligence & Intellectual Property
- Conducts market research and benchmarking to inform long-term technology strategy.
- Sponsors innovation pilots, POCs, and emerging technology evaluations.
- Contributes to patent searches and intellectual-property development.
Mentorship & Engineering Culture
- Mentors senior engineers and technical leaders to build architecture competency.
- Leads communities of practice and engineering best-practice development.
- Promotes a culture of inclusion, continuous learning, and collaboration.
Selective Technical Engagement
- Provides hands-on support for high-priority prototypes, performance tuning, or escalated issues.
- Defines operational readiness and ensures effective 24/7 support posture for critical systems.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Performs additional responsibilities consistent with senior technical and architectural leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or systems architecture roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record architecting complex solutions in multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with broad knowledge of cross-cloud patterns.
- Familiarity with edge-to-cloud integration patterns (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, Java, C#, etc.).
- Strong proficiency with:
- Cloud-native architectures: containers, Kubernetes, serverless, service mesh
- IaC and DevOps: Terraform, CloudFormation, GitOps, CI/CD, artifact management
- SRE practices: SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability, chaos engineering
- Integration patterns: API gateways, event-driven and messaging systems
- Networking concepts: VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, load balancers, service networking
Leadership & Architectural Competencies
- Ability to develop and communicate enterprise architecture strategies, standards, and long-term roadmaps.
- Strong portfolio of technical decision-making artifacts (ADRs, architecture diagrams, reference architectures).
- Proven experience influencing senior leadership and aligning technical direction across global teams.
- Ability to balance innovation with risk, cost, and operational sustainability.
Business & Communication Skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex architectural concepts to executive audiences. Experience working with Japanese audiences and some Japanese language is preferred.
- Experience supporting business development efforts, including RFQs/RFPs and technical presentation.
- Ability to connect technology strategy to business outcomes, value streams, and financial considerations.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Cloud architecture certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
- DevOps/SRE certifications (CKA/CKAD, Terraform, SRE Foundation).
- Security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, or cloud security equivalents).

ANNUAL SALARY: $181,000 – $226,000
