Job Description

The Director of Security is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for guests, owners, and team members. This role supports a premier resort environment by ensuring consistent safety protocols, responsive incident management, and professional guest interaction.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Responds to guest and owner concerns promptly, providing accurate information and support while maintaining a calm, professional presence.
  • Ensures regular property inspections and timely reporting of safety issues, hazards, or policy violations.
  • Oversees investigations and documentation related to security incidents, accidents, and claims.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement, emergency responders, and internal departments as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and safety policies.
  • Supervises Security Officers, including staffing, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Supports training related to safety, emergency response, and security procedures.
  • Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.

To fulfill this role efficiently, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related experience, ideally in large-scale security or safety operations
  • 4+ years of managerial experience, preferably in security, safety, or a similar operational setting
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate, develop, and engage staff in a positive manner that produces business results.
  • Demonstrates problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Displays effective organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines and manage competing priorities within a small team environment.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of security operations and management, enforcement procedures and safety practices in a hospitality environment.
  • Proven experience with processing Workers Compensation and General Liability Claims.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously, both verbally and in writing, with guests, team members, managers and all other department staff of all ages including proper handling of emotional situations and needs.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or college diploma
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • 6+ years of managerial or director-level experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar setting
  • Prior experience working in a timeshare ownership environment
  • Previous experience in a luxury resort setting
  • Familiarity with budgeting and operational reporting
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Voice system certification
  • Bilingual in Japanese and English (read, speak, write)
