Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Staff Project Manager at our Chandler, AZ facility.

Job Duties
Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects while serving as a liaison between project management, planning, project teams, and line management. Review project status and budgets; manage schedules, and prepare status reports. Assess project issues and develop solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Implement mechanisms to monitor project progress and manage intervention strategies and problem resolution efforts with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execution Planning: Lead internal hardware and material planning activities using industry-standard tools and Agile frameworks to ensure asset readiness for program milestones.
  • GFX & MHI Management: Track and manage all MHI hardware within the GFX list. Oversee and streamline export compliance processes (e.g., ITAR, EAR) to address the 3-month lead time for receiving assets from the Japanese partner.
  • Hardware Utilization Matrix: Maintain and optimize the Hardware Utilization Matrix using relevant tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, JIRA) to oversee asset allocation and maximize hardware reuse across the program.
  • Seeker Lab Hardware Manager: Serve as the central point of contact for lab organization and hardware movement into and out of the seeker lab, ensuring on-time availability for test execution. Expedite approvals with relevant stakeholders for NGPCN and closed-area operations.
  • Program Coordination: Collaborate with other programs to identify opportunities for shared use of MGSE and EGSE hardware, enabling cost savings and schedule alignment for concurrent development needs.
  • Testing Requirements: Partner with AUR, KV, and Seeker teams to identify and fulfill hardware requirements for nominal and off-nominal testing while coordinating across subsystem teams.
  • Readiness Tracking: Implement tools and procedures to monitor vendor hardware readiness from receipt through execution, ensuring all physical assets align with program test schedules and milestones.
  • Testing Facilitation: Manage hardware flow for over 200 Engineering and DVT tests (e.g., wind tunnel, arcjet, coupon, and full-scale structural testing) through 2028, ensuring seamless test execution.
  • PDR Material Flow: Oversee physical storage, movement, and tracking of developmental hardware to ensure readiness for critical PDR activities aligned with program milestones.
  • Digital Thread: Execute part serialization and manage digital threads using PLM systems to ensure traceability of assets from receipt to final disposition.
  • Process Flow: Identify and implement enhancements to workflows for document approvals, hardware movement into classified areas, and overall hardware execution processes across teams.
  • Program Metrics: Provide real-time transparency into hardware health and material readiness using visualization platforms like Tableau, Power BI, and other dashboard tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 15 years of experience or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security clearance at time of of application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Department of Defense (DoD) missile defense programs, including knowledge of operational requirements and mission execution.
  • Familiarity with design, manufacturing, and testing of complex missile hardware components.
  • Extensive experience managing Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), export compliance (ITAR/EAR), and optimizing hardware workflows to meet mission-critical timelines.
  • Proven ability to solve multifaceted challenges, covering technical, schedule, cost, and resource management.
  • Strong understanding of mission and test hardware integration processes, including effective coordination of material needs and stakeholder engagement.

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,400.00 – $189,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
