Job Purpose

Production Scheduling Supervisor oversees a scheduling team to plan, sequence, and coordinate plant operations – ensuring finished goods are manufactured and shipped on time to meet customer and inventory requirements. Key responsibilities include maintaining an accurate capacity model, facilitating cross-functional communication between supply chain, operations, and order entry, and mentoring team members on scheduling best practices.

Duties and Responsibilites

With input from the purchasing team, production scheduling, operations management, both internal and external customers: Drive cross training within production scheduling team

  • Seek deeper understanding and better use of tools in standard systems
  • Lead streamlining and automating production scheduling tasks
  • Lead team to maintain and publish production plan at the agreed upon cadence to fulfil sales demand signals and meet semifinished and finished goods targets over time
  • Drive efficiency by reducing complexity and changes across operations
  • Load Forecast and Master production schedule input to ERP system, Maintain and publish related annual build plan projecting inventory levels and purchasing signals
  • Ensure clear and current work instructions for production scheduling are maintained
  • Support and lead purchasing activities when buyer/schedulers are part of the team
  • Maintain and publish data and trends for key performance indicators
  • For all responsibilities above: Find root cause of failures, recommend process improvements, and support efforts to improve processes
  • Communicate data accuracy concerns regarding master data for parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies in the ERP system. (Including but not limited to: Bill of Materials, Routes, Waste Factors, Safety Stocks, Lead Times, Min and Max quantities, Planning Horizons, Lot Sizes, Production Calendars, Methods, and Shift Schedules)
  • Lead on site transaction accuracy monitoring and support year-end inventory activity
  • Work cooperatively with other departments in pursuit of best safety, quality, on-time delivery, and process efficiency/cost.
  • Communicate plan and changes to the plan to upper management.
  • Participate in projects and other activities as requested by manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversee the production scheduling team- 2 planners, 1 buyer/planner and 1 inventory associate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 3-5 years’ experience in a continuous manufacturing supply chain professional role (strongly preferred) OR High School Diploma/GED equivalent with 4-6 years’ experience in a continuous manufacturing production scheduling role
  • Creative, Detailed, and Proactive Problem Solver
  • Intermediate+ skill in Excel (preferred)
  • ERP Supply Chain experience required (Epicor strongly preferred)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Pattern recognition and ability to develop actionable insights from data.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build and improve trusting relationships.
  • Multi-lingual English/Japanese strongly preferred

Physical Demands

  • Open office working environment, production and warehouse environment.
  • Sitting/standing at desk working with laptop or desktop monitor throughout the day
  • Walking and working on the manufacturing floor throughout the day

Safety Requirements

  • Wear appropriate PPE in manufacturing areas.
  • Promptly report any observed safety issues: conditions or behavior.
  • Learn and follow all plant safety rules and guidelines
