The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

Main Purpose of Role:

  • The primary focus of this position is to develop and deliver credit training programs (on-site and virtually) to enhance credit risk analysis skills, product specific knowledge, and an understanding of the Bank’s credit culture, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Training participants primarily include credit officers, relationship managers and portfolio managers across all corporate titles (analyst to MD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with team, develop and deliver credit training, to address critical needs identified by senior leaders across Global Corporate & Investment Banking, Japanese Corporate Banking and Credit.
  • Collaborate productively to build a sound foundation and enhance credit analytical skills across the Americas.
  • Lead regulatory ratings training and develop virtual and on-line materials to address critical needs.
  • Develop content for Credit Risk Newsletters distributed enterprise wide.
  • As directed by Chief Credit Officer and/or Deputy Chief Credit Officer, develop and facilitate delivery of supplementary training including short seminars/structured discussions.
  • Provide support to senior credit/portfolio management in matters related to policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Workout to support training on Lessons Learned.
  • Prepare detailed credit applications/case studies in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures, evaluating a company’s industry/business/legal/financial risks.
  • Support and mentor employees in the credit risk management process.
  • Work in cooperation with business line, product groups, risk, audit, and human resources to develop specific training programs, as needed.
  • Manage consultants, when necessary, in addition to matrix oversight of training support staff.
  • Collaborate on selection and facilitation of external vendors to deliver intermediate and advanced content, when necessary.
  • Ensure accurate participant registration, tracking, reporting, set-up, and technology support.
  • Maintain inventory of training materials/resources and incorporates necessary updates.
  • Participate in and contribute to special assignments and projects as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience delivering credit training to credit officers, relationship managers and portfolio managers in wholesale banking.
  • Mid-to-senior level work experience in credit and/or portfolio management at a major U.S. or global financial institution.
  • Experience creating and developing credit training content/case studies and delivery of training at different levels of seniority.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate credit analysis, credit ratings, and valuation analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation and structural risks.
  • Understanding of the issues related to the regulatory environment in the U.S. (FRB, OCC, FDIC) and Japan (FSA, BOJ).
  • Excellent verbal/written/interpersonal communications and presentation skills.
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Financial Spreadsheet Programs.
  • Passion for training and talent development.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related field
  • Credit Trained

The typical base pay range for this role is between $135K – $185K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
