Tokyo Anime Center is committed to bringing Japanese Pop Culture to the US. We pride ourselves on creating an engaging atmosphere where our guests can enjoy Gashapon machines and Anime photo experiences as well as learn about the latest Japanese Anime. We are seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to oversee and supervise retail staff and operations across multiple locations in the US. This role ensures consistency in retail practices, a positive customer experience, and strong sales performance. The Retail Operations Manager will develop and implement budgets, monitor sales trends, analyze business performance, and coordinate with marketing to drive store growth. Additionally, they will manage inventory levels, set pricing strategies, and identify opportunities for business expansion. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in retail operations, and the ability to drive efficiency, profitability, and compliance with company policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and supervise retail staff across all store locations to ensure consistent practices and a positive customer experience.
• Monitor retail operations to maintain high service standards, optimize sales, and improve overall customer satisfaction
• Develop and implement budgets, sales strategies, and operational plans to drive business growth and profitability.
• Establish merchandising policies to enhance product presentation and maximize sales.
• Analyze sales trends, customer behavior, and market conditions to identify opportunities for improvement and expansion
• Work closely with store managers and department heads to align business strategies across all retail locations.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional campaigns that drive store traffic and sales.
• Set and regulate product pricing based on market analysis, demand trends, and business objectives.
• Evaluate financial and operational performance to assess store profitability and identify areas for enhancement.
• Identify and assess potential locations for business expansion, ensuring alignment with company growth strategies.
• Negotiate lease agreements and rental terms to secure favorable conditions for new and existing retail spaces.
• Develop and execute project plans for the successful and timely opening of new store locations.
• Participate in store openings, corporate events, and industry-related activities to strengthen brand presence.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best retail practices.
• Other duties and projects as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating and managing performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Passion for Japanese Culture and Anime in particular
• Strong interpersonal skills including working with internal and external stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with other relevant tools is a plus.
• Systematic, organized, and capable of working independently.
• Good knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations related to the retail industry.
• Must be willing to travel as required (approx. 25%)
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Japanese is an added advantage

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years of experience in retail management, with key exposure to store operations, leasing, strategic expansion, and store development (e.g., new builds, renovations).
• Bachelor’s degree in business management, business administration, business studies, or in a similar field. Will consider comparable work history in lieu of a degree
