SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager, Sales & Marketing, the Account Manager is responsible for managing commercial sales and business development activities for key Daicel mobility industry customers and plays a visible role in the success of Daicel’s global business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manage day-to-day customer communication and ongoing relationships as it relates to current and future projects.
• Develop a trustworthy two-way relationship with key customers, across various departments.
• Assist with preparation of various monthly reporting and strategic planning activities.
• Collaborate with a diverse global sales & marketing team.
• Act as liaison between the customer and internal departments.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the customers’ position in the market, their products and the competitive landscape.
• Visit customers, attend trade shows and other industry events to capitalize on networking and relationship-building opportunities.
• Able to function with limited guidance. Self-starter willing to ask questions and find alternative solutions to complicated problems.
• Occasional overnight travel, including international, may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field.
• 1-5 years Tier 1 account management experience.
• Proficient computer skills required.
• Japanese language / business experience is a plus.
• Experience with international business practices and terminology is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks in an organized manner.
• Comfortable in a team-oriented environment, with members working toward a common

goal, regardless of official lines of responsibility.

The individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in arithmetic, Microsoft Applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of World Class manufacturing concepts (i.e. KanBan, Constraint Management), a strong desire to work in a team environment, and excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills. This positions also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English.

Must be available to work days, evenings, or weekends and overtime as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret, policies, labor laws and federal regulations. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA, Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc. manufacturing processes.

The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
