Summary/Objective

Responsible for the facilitation of corporate tax compliance and support of the audit firm. Through application of generally accepted accounting principles, analyze financial information and ensure integrity of financial data. Assist Accounting Team Leader as a subject matter expert liaison to the Japanese treasurer.

Essential Functions

  • Sales Tax-manage sales tax compliance, account reconciliation, and system administration for our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Avalara for sales tax management and experience with ERP systems, ensuring seamless integration and accurate financial reporting.
  • Corporate Tax-Review audit firms prepared tax returns and prepare payments, reports and maintains company’s tax database. Ensure Federal, State, and Local tax compliances by monitoring developments in tax legislation.
  • Assist Accounting Team Leader to prepare and analyze reports that summarize activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Responsible for AR activities – includes cash receipts, collection of open receivables, the creation of invoices as needed and bank statement reconciliation.
  • Monitor GL figures – ensure accurate entry of GL entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Reviews monthly and quarterly balance sheets for accuracy.
  • Assist Accounting Team Leader with coordinating external audits of company’s accounts (yearend, 6-month review, internal control). Works with external auditors to ensure all requested documents are available and accessible.
  • Oversee, review and prepare reports required by regulatory agencies (ie: Bureau of Economic Analysis, Survey of Manufacturers).
  • Assists with the training of Plex procedures to assure that all employees are entering information accurately and correctly so that customer invoices are paid in a timely manner or UBE bills are invoiced to customers correctly.
  • Management of contract expiration dates

Work Environment

This position works in a professional office environment. Employee must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and file cabinets.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift. Ability to open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Three to five years’ manufacturing accounting experience.
  • One to three years’ multiple-state sales tax experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of sales tax software, ex: Avalara

Travel / Work Authorization

Occasional travel is required, primarily local during the business day. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required as needed.

Other job-related duties may be assigned by the employee’s supervisor.
