SUMMARY

Responsible for the administration and continued development and of DSSA, Inc.’s Accounting programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Global regulation. Emphasis of this position includes knowledge and application of SOX and J-SOX compliance activities and maintaining current knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations. Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with Daicel business associates. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and prepare accurate financial reports and records of the company which include but are not limited to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable assignments.
  • Prepare accurate monthly journal entries and account reconciliations including inventory balances to perpetual records, etc.
  • Review the trial balances on a monthly basis for any errors and prepare monthly analysis of past due accounts receivable.
  • Review and update the status of delinquent accounts, prepare the proper correspondence, and initiate the necessary collection action according to the established procedures.
  • Perform account analysis and prepare accurate account reconciliations.
  • Calculate and determine the required reserve balances which may include Bad Debt, Sales Returns and Discounts, etc.

  • Interpret and apply GAAP to non-recurring transactions.

  • Apply accurate cash receipts to the customer accounts and balances to appropriate deposits.
  • Investigate and resolve any vendor billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain the fixed assets sub-ledger in FAS software.
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze annual 1099 forms.
  • Process DSSA, Inc. employee expense reports.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum educational experience requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or other closely related field. Minimum experience required of 0 – 4 years in accounting. Experience in a multi-business unit manufacturing environment highly preferred. Bilingual in English/Japanese languages (speaking, reading and writing) and hands on experience utilizing financial software similar to Syspro as well as FAS.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual must be able to demonstrate strong understanding of federal regulations related to global accounting applications. Strong financial skills and understanding of SOX and J-SOX regulations required. Project management skills is a plus. Ability to problem solve and work effectively with all levels of employees and management in a team oriented environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation and a working knowledge of accounting programs. The individual

must have excellent communication skills, organization skills as well as be detail oriented. Must also be able to effectively prioritize the workload. This position also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English and Japanese. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the business needs and demands of Daicel business associates.
