About This Role
The Accounting Manager must have broad exposure to VC/CVC and how the function adds value within a fund. They will be supporting the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of the organization. This is a unique opportunity to work in the VC/CVC industry, as the role is a newly created position with the team looking to bolster the Finance functions to support its exciting growth phase. Looking for somebody in the California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada area. This is a remote role with an estimated10% travel to West Coast Offices and/or Japan as needed for meetings/conferences.
What You Will Work On
- Own the day-to-day relationship with external Fund Admin team. Perform first review of monthly and quarterly financial statements of multiple funds and other entities. Prepare and self-review monthly and quarterly consolidation reporting to parent company via custom consolidation reporting tool
- Maintain and review accounting books and records, reconcile files in liaison with external Fund Admin team. Be able to analyze and assist in the reconciliation of bank statements, investment activity, income and expense accruals, valuation adjustments and general ledgers
- Review financial materials prior to distribution to LPs, including quarterly financial statements
- Run the expense management process, from invoicing to payment.
- Work with the Finance Manager on cash management, and budgeting
- Support all aspects of capital activity, including review of capital call and distribution calculations, carried interest and management fee calculations
- Run the annual audit process and tax return filing process, in liaison with external service providers including fund administrators, auditors and tax advisors
- Run the annual Transfer Pricing process, in liaison with external professional service providers
- Run the annual US tax reporting process, in liaison with external professional service providers
- Run quarterly fair value calculations, in accordance with ASC 820, of investment positions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with accounting principles
- Project management and delivery by working with Head of Finance on projects relating to accounting and operations (e.g. expense management) implementation project
What You Will Bring
- Self-starter and self-learner
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/business or related areas
- ~5 years’ experience in a similar role and a strong passion and interest in VC/CVC and private financial markets
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with fair value accounting and portfolio company valuation and VC fund structure and accounting
- Accounting Qualifications such as CPA/Charted Accountant required. CFA and/or an MBA are a plus but not required
- Strong analytical skills and data analysis are essential with spreadsheet skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- High level of integrity, a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- You enjoy open communication and direct feedback
- Desire to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment. Comfortable with ambiguity
- Japanese Language ability is a plus but not required

- Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.
- Pay Range: $75/hr – $90/hr
