POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Hiring Pool – World Languages & Cultures: Chinese, Japanese, Spanish

COMPENSATION RANGE: 1,080.00 – 1,300.00 per credit hour

This pool expires 05/31/2026. Applicants wishing to remain in this pool past 05/31/2026, must reapply at that time.

Position Summary:

Temporary, part-time adjunct faculty in the Department of World Languages & Cultures. Face-to-face and online teaching opportunities may be available in Chinese, Japanese, and/or Spanish. Apply to this hiring pool to be considered for opportunities that may come available.

Minimum Qualifications:

Native or near-native proficiency in the target language.

And

At least one of the following criteria:

  • An MA in a related field;
  • Substantial (minimum 18 credits) graduate-level academic coursework in the relevant national language/literary tradition;
  • Graduate-level academic coursework in the theories and methodologies of language acquisition, or other significant training/experience in the same;
  • A record of substantial research and professional activity relevant to the target language/literature, including the theories and methodologies of language acquisition.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the one in which the candidate wishes to teach. Past record of successful college-level teaching experience in the discipline of employment. For online teaching, one or more semesters’ worth of online teaching experience. Experience using the Canvas platform and with courses that have received Quality Matters approval is advantageous.
