Purpose of Job

June 13-20, 2026

Mentors will be responsible for ensuring our Japanese middle school students will have a positive experience during their time in Nebraska.

General Description and Duties

• Attend a 2-hour orientation
• Serve in the Adventure Zone classrooms in the morning with both American and Japanese middle school students
• Serve as a small group leader for 7 Japanese middle school students for afternoon activities and tours (e.g., Omaha Zoo, Stuhr Museum, Sun Valley Lanes bowling excursion, Nebraska Capitol Building, Nebraska History Museum, Gateway Shopping Mall)
• Debrief with Adventure Zone Mentor Trainer and fellow mentors each morning
• Lunch and most dinners will be provided; all admission fees are included
• Adventure Zone Mentors will be paid a stipend of $1000 for the week.

Special Skills or Knowledge Required

• Open to interacting with people from other cultures
• Responsible, cooperative, and comfortable with people
• Possess excellent personal integrity
• Have good communication skills
• Experience working with children, teens, or with people from other cultures is an advantage, but is not required.
