Job Summary & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an Inspection and Metrology Applications Engineer to support our customers on the applications of Onto Innovation Inspection Systems (FireFly) for both Panel and Wafer based
manufacturing processes. The Applications engineer will also support the Sales and Marketing teams by performing customer demonstrations, feasibility studies and providing technical directions to secure future sales of equipment and
services.
Responsibilities:
- Become a Subject Matter Expert on Onto Innovation’s Inspetion and Metrology products.
- Support customer applications development activities that require full understanding of the system set-up, inspection of customer’s product, confirmation of optimal and accurate results, and presentation of results
- Work closely with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and challenges and ensure that Onto Innovation’s systems are configured and utilized optimally
- Provide support and applications training to customers as well as various internal functional groups to ensure systems are being used effectively
- Develop system requirements that meet customer requirements and product definitions provided by other departments
- Assist in developing and executing system level test plans to validate that the engineering designs meet customer requirements
- Compile and assist in the presentation of test data collected during design validations to a peer group of engineers
- Contribute to documentation for use in the manufacture, installation, technical support and training related to the final design
- Support engineering products through entire life cycle
- Support training, application support, and characterization of NPI (new product introduction)
- 10%-20% domestic and international travel required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering, Physics or Materials Science is required, M.Sc or Ph.D is preferred
- Greater than two years process engineering experience with wafer or panel manufacturing facility would be plus
- Greater than two years hands on experience with semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Ability to work with limited direction and take initiative to solve problems
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment
- Fluency in Japanese, Chinese or Korean is a plus, but not required
