The Assistant Financial Controller – North America plays a critical role in supporting the financial management and reporting functions for all restaurants across the US. This role partners closely with the Head of Finance and senior finance leadership to ensure accurate accounting, timely reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The position plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and continuous process improvement across multiple restaurant entities.

Main Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition
  • Assist with the preparation and review of weekly and monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data across locations
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and support corrective action planning
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting outputs
  • Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements, operational permits, and compliance filings
  • Partner with external auditors and advisors by preparing schedules, documentation, and audit support materials
  • Monitor financial performance and provide reporting insights to support operational decision-making
  • Support inventory controls and cost accounting processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across locations
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of financial systems, reporting tools, and process efficiencies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, IT, and People & Culture to improve coordination and data accuracy
  • Contribute to finance-led projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and controls
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

What We Look For

Our ideal candidate embodies our values and the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward certification preferred
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within hospitality, multi-unit, or multi-entity environments
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting processes
  • Experience supporting month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms; advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Prior restaurant or hospitality industry experience is strongly preferred
