Position Summary:
Palm House is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to support the daily operations of our signature restaurant featuring Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in luxury hospitality operations, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering a world-class guest experience. This role is critical in assisting the F&B Manager in overseeing all areas of food & beverage operations, staff development, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure seamless service and adherence to Palm House standards.
  • Support planning, organizing, and coordinating of service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including special events and private dining.
  • Ensure proper execution of operational procedures, including opening and closing protocols, inventory tracking, and cost control measures.
  • Monitor and maintain adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards in line with local, state, and federal regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and train front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and bussers, promoting high performance and professionalism.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to reinforce service standards, introduce menu updates, and motivate staff.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management to optimize team efficiency.
  • Encourage a collaborative and respectful work environment, fostering teamwork and staff engagement.

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor, engaging with guests to ensure exceptional service and address any concerns or special requests.
  • Collaborate with culinary staff to ensure proper execution of menu items, presentation, and quality standards.
  • Assist in implementing guest feedback initiatives to enhance overall dining experiences.
  • Uphold Forbes-level service standards, ensuring every guest interaction reflects Palm House’s luxury brand.

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Assist in monitoring and controlling labor, food, and beverage costs while maximizing revenue and profitability.
  • Support the F&B Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting operational performance.
  • Review and approve daily revenue reports, POS entries, and inventory documentation.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for promotions, special events, and menu enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in luxury hotel or high-end restaurant operations, preferably with Japanese, Peruvian, or fusion cuisine.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership roles with front-of-house management and staff supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, service standards, and hospitality best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in restaurant management systems (POS, scheduling, inventory), Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and guest service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during service.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and assisting with setup or breakdown of event spaces.
  • Ability to navigate busy dining areas safely while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks, bending, reaching, and moving quickly to respond to service needs.
