Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.
We are currently seeking a Supplier Quality Development (SQD) Assistant Manager located in Mineral Wells/Williamstown, WV reporting directly to SQD Manager. This individual will be responsible for the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that processes of the QMS are established and maintained
- Report to top management on the performance of the QMS, including needs for improvement
- Assure supplied part concerns are addressed to prevent production interruption.
- Assure that SQD Task List is current; assignments are relevant, on-schedule and completed in a timely manner.
- Promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization
- Appropriate liaison with internal/external parties on matters relating to the QMS
- Manage the plant’s quality control processes for complete vehicle inspection. Ensure that all processes are operating in accordance with established procedures, standards, and work instructions to assure that all customer requirements/expectations are satisfied prior to release.
- Communicating to the organization the importance of meeting customer as well as regulatory and legal requirements
- Quality policy and quality objectives are established and effectively implemented
- Conduct management reviews
- Assist in the identification and availability of necessary resources to assure the QMS effective performance
- Ensure that customer needs and expectations are determined, converted into requirements, and fulfilled with the aim of achieving customer satisfaction
- Monitor SQD Team Members performance measures (e.g., safety, attendance, Kaizen, and 5S) to provide timely feedback and assure proper corrective/preventive action if applicable.
- Generate internal production attribute chart of defects and associated Pareto analysis. Determine root cause of recurring problems and implement appropriate/applicable countermeasure.
- Generate external supplier attribute chart of defects and associated Pareto analysis. Assure that suppliers have performed an adequate root cause analysis and has proposed permanent countermeasure is applied in accordance with SQAM requirements.
The individual in this role shall assure that the organization plans and manages the processes necessary for the continual improvement of the QMS. This shall be accomplished through the following means:
- use of the quality policy
- measurable objectives (e.g., Hoshin Kanri)
- audit results
- analysis of data
- corrective and preventive actions
- management reviews
The individual in this role will provide leadership to assure the following:

Education and Experience Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business preferred or equivalent years of related experience).
- Master’s degree preferred (MBA or Other).
- Previous Supervisory or Management experience preferred
- Minimum of 7 years compliance experience. Automotive experience highly desirable.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work for a Japanese company in an international environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, forms, and instructions in English.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, staff, clients, and the general public in English.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups in English.
- Ability to effectively deliver presentations to managers, staff, clients, and the general public in English.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts, technical specifications, drawings, and other SQD/QA related documents).
