Description

The Cultural Development & Wellness Center at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is hiring a compassionate Victim Advocate to provide culturally responsive support to victims of human trafficking and other crimes, with a strong focus on immigrant and refugee communities across Colorado. This dynamic, grant-funded role combines direct service, case management, and mobile advocacy with systems-level impact-engaging in outreach, building provider relationships, and supporting policy initiatives that advance equity in the criminal justice and victim services systems. Reporting to the Victim Advocate Director, the ideal candidate thrives in both independent and collaborative settings, upholds strict confidentiality, and brings a deep understanding of culturally competent care. Fluency in Mandarin, Korean, or Vietnamese is strongly preferred to help ensure our services meet the unique needs of the AAPI, immigrant, and refugee populations we serve.

Term-limited.This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that may end on/around October 1, 2025 (longer if the grant extends). This position is grant-funded and contingent on renewal of funding which we have successfully reapplied for in the past.

Schedule. This position will work Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with an occasional on-call schedule, and is eligible for a hybrid model that allows for a mix of remote and in-office work, with an expectation of being in the office three days per week and working from home two days. This schedule may be adjusted based on training, client, or community needs.

$2,000 Sign On Bonus Available! *Not eligible internal employees and re-hired employees within 90 days from separation.

Based on full-time (40 hours/week). Prorate if less than 40 hours/week. Paid in two installments: 50% on the first paycheck, 50% on the paycheck following 6-month anniversary.

Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on experience and company equity.Paid bi-weekly.

  • $20.04 – $30.05 per hour

Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and the candidate’s fluency.

  • Employees will receive scheduled earnings bi-weekly, equivalent to 10%of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), with a maximum amount of $6,000.00per calendar year. The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full-time equivalency (FTE).

Essential Functions:

  • Provide case management and direct services through mobile advocacy, support, safety planning, and criminal justice advocacy based on victims’ needs and assessments.
  • Provide immediate crisis assistance as well as support in identifying short-term and long-term needs of the client.
  • Work with client and their family to develop a safety plan.
  • Provideclients and their familieswith appropriate and available resources including housing support, employment resources, education and advocacy in criminal justice system/processes, and emergency funds.
  • Oversee and maintain confidential client records.
  • Provide biweekly case updates to the Victim Advocate Director.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court, law enforcement, and victim assistance agencies.
  • Participate and offer outreach efforts to communities within the marginalized communities in CO.
  • Provide coverage at primary CDWC offices as well as satellite offices as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording data and progress towards program goals and objectives.
  • Provide appropriate referral information to victims.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities directly related to the position as they are made available.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Victim Assistance management.
  • This position is required to be on call for the 24-hour crisis line on a rotating basis with the other staff from Victim Assistance Department.
  • Expected travel time 65%, mileage reimbursement is available.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, or related field
  • Or Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field with at least one year of behavioral health experience (including work as a case manager, addiction tech/specialist work, behavioral health specialist, residential counselor, family support specialist, and/or in victim advocacy/support).
  • Must have experience with case management and data collection.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of victim advocacy, trauma, and crisis intervention
  • Preference will be given to candidates that are bilingual (Arabic, French, Vietnamese, Japanese, Burmese, Korean, Mandarin/Cantonese, Khmer, etc.)
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to execute independent judgment with minimal guidance and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Ability to listen and respond professionally.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in statistical data maintenance and report writing.
  • Ability to accessinformation, evaluate results, and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • Requires possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, and adequate car insurance

Required Vaccination and TB Test.

At AMHR the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
