About the Cannonball General Manager Role
As the General Manager of Cannonball-you’ll lead all aspects of daily operations, ensuring unforgettable guest experiences, high-performing teams, and financial success. You’ll collaborate with key food & beverage leaders, oversee staff development, and drive strategic initiatives to keep Cannonball at the forefront of San Diego’s dining scene.

What You’ll Do as the Cannonball General Manager:

Lead Daily Operations

  • Manage restaurant operations to deliver excellence in guest service, food quality, and presentation.
  • Accurately forecast sales and optimize staffing levels to meet budget and service demands.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and uphold all operational standards.

Oversee Financial Performance

  • Monitor inventory, streamline ordering, and manage supplier relationships to control costs and maintain quality.
  • Operate within budgetary goals while identifying new opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
  • Analyze financial reports and lead marketing efforts to increase guest traffic and brand visibility.

Develop & Support a High-Performing Team

  • Report to the Director of Food & Beverage while working closely with Assistant Directors, Executive Chef, and Beverage Manager.
  • Supervise the AGM and all hourly staff, fostering a collaborative, professional environment.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a skilled, diverse team with a focus on growth and retention.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and provide performance feedback to support team development.

Enhance Guest Experience

  • Ensure top-tier hospitality by addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Build guest loyalty through personalized service, memorable experiences, and thoughtful engagement.
  • Manage the restaurant’s online presence by responding to reviews and leveraging feedback.

Drive Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with leadership to align operational goals with the broader vision for Cannonball.
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovations to maintain competitive edge.
  • Plan and execute special events, promotions, and seasonal menu updates with the culinary and events team.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform desk work and computer tasks for extended periods.
  • Stand/walk for up to eight hours; lift weights up to 40 pounds and handle equipment.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and noisy environments; ability to climb stairs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role in a high-volume, upscale dining establishment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and POS systems.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to analyze financial statements and manage budgets.
  • Passion for the hospitality industry and commitment to excellence.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Expected Hours of Work

Open availability with 2 out of the 3 weekend days available.

Minimum USD Salary: 90,000
Maximum USD Salary: 95,000
