Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is looking for Commissioning Engineer – Technical Field Advisors.

SUMMARY

The Commissioning Engineer Technical Field Advisor is responsible for supporting commissioning of Mitsubishi gas and steam turbines while under the direction of the site Commissioning lead. Typical activities include mechanical commissioning of pump and fan driven subsystems, testing, pipe flushing, inspection, recommendation of setting/design changes, and initial plant startup and testing. This position is intended for candidates with some power generation experience, preferably in operations or commissioning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows Mitsubishi Power and site safety requirements at all times.
  • Under the direction of the commissioning lead/ senior engineer, executes daily assigned tasks to commission the turbine and auxiliary systems.
  • Startup, operation, and troubleshooting of large frame gas turbines, steam turbines.
  • Ability to read and understand machine process diagrams and function diagrams as related to gas or steam turbines.
  • Inspection of turbines and other plant equipment.
  • Operator training before commencing commercial operation of a new power plant.
  • Good understanding of thermodynamic principles related to Combined Cycle Power Plant.
  • Completes documentation, test certificates and drawings for site turnover.
  • Oversee the installation and testing of assigned systems.
  • Performs inspection of systems and reports findings to commissioning lead.
  • Reports non-conformance issues to senior engineer and interface with design engineering team.
  • Complete required skills training log under the direction of the lead or senior engineer.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participates in Mitsubishi company sponsored training programs, both classroom and on the job as directed by their manager.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management at all levels.
  • Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of 3rd parties.
  • Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the year to remote work sites, both domestically and internationally
  • Possess a valid and up to date driver’s license and passport at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and approximately 2-5 years direct experience in power generation, oil and gas, construction, commissioning or industrial operation. Or a combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge of power systems, energy conversion, or heat engine design. Power generation experience required.
  • Language Skills: English, Secondary language of Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese helpful.
  • Mathematical Skills: Strong analytical skills related to engineering problem solving.
  • Reasoning Ability: Good ability to analyze problems of either machine related or computer-generated data at site and have the ability to communicate in a clear manner to engineering.
  • Computer Skills: Use of office software packages and analytical tools.

Will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces and in extreme weather conditions at times.
