Design Engineer, Routing (WHD TG)

Job Summary:

Work mostly at customer facilities to route the wire harness using customer specified CAD. Interface with customers and internal engineering staff during the product development with effective communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Create wire harnesses and components to package them into vehicles in the 3D CAD environment.
2. Ensure that designing parts meet customer and internal requirements.
3. Produce 2D drawings based on 3D CAD data of wire harness.
4. Provide internal engineering staff with information for tooling parts, evaluation, prototyping and manufacturing.
5. Improve design quality of wire harness through design review, workability improvement and VA/VE.
6. Provide engineering solution to design issues for customer and internal requirement.
7. Provide customers with responses for cost studies.
8. Support vehicle builds and launches at customer plants.
9. Work with team on continuous improvement activities.
10. Business travel (domestically as well as internationally: Mexico, Canada, Vietnam and Japan) may be required.
11. Actively collect trends by benchmarking other vehicles and distribute those internally.
12. Maybe required to work overtime to complete design projects.
13. Performs other miscellaneous duties when required or requested.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Effective ability in Excel, Word, Outlook and Power point preferred.
2. Ability to troubleshoot and rework wire harnesses on vehicle assembled preferred.
3. Ability to use CATIA is a plus.
4. Ability to speak Japanese is a plus.

Education and Experience:

1. Minimum 3 year experience of WH Routing engineering design.
2. Minimum 3 year experience of3D-CAD
3. Toyota design experience is a plus.
