Role Overview

Director of Battery Materials Sales and Business Development will play a crucial role in understanding the battery materials market, identifying offtake customers, negotiating contracts, ensuring the successful execution of battery materials sales and developing supply chain/tolling partners which will help the company mitigate commercial, technical and operational risks in the very dynamic environment. Your customer-facing and cross-functional leadership skills and ability to maneuver both internal and external complexities will be essential to our company’s growth and success in the battery recycling industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • This dedicated salesperson will be required to understand, develop, and capture lucrative opportunities for the rapidly growing downstream recycled battery materials markets in a global scale. The battery materials include black mass, nickel/cobalt/manganese sulfates, lithium sulfate, lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide.
  • Individual will be responsible for managing existing offtake customers, targeted key prospects for new offtakes and new emerging players including some new technology players for downstream recycled battery materials markets.
  • Responsible for managing downstream sales globally and managing the business operation based upon the contracts.
  • Maximize downstream payables as this has direct impact on Cirba Solutions’ competitiveness in upstream (payables/cost of battery acquisition).
  • Understand the downstream strategy and build value propositions that we can utilize to grow existing and capture new opportunities, including development supply chain and tolling partners.
  • Build knowledge of markets including value chains, customers, competitors, emerging technologies and applications with recycling landscape.
  • Responsible for commercial analysis, new contract management, price negotiation, forecasting etc.
  • Generate and implement strategic account plans.
  • Collaborate with upstream post-consumer and automotive sales teams to ensure commercial strategies are in alignment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong international business mindset and acumen with >10 year professional experience in the battery materials, specialty chemical or automotive industry.
  • Seasoned global experience managing culturally complex accounts in specialty chemical, battery materials or automotive industry.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with internal teams and both domestic and international customers.
  • Solid understanding of lithium-ion battery recycling processes, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and industry conferences.
  • Up to 30% traveling

Preferred:

  • Fluency in Chinese, Korean or Japanese is preferred.
