Summary:

This position is responsible for all business associated with the FLD Division in Electronics & Specialty Department. Manages and conducts laser maintenance and support service activities in achieving the division and corporate goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Acquire detailed knowledge/skills on FLD laser maintenance and support service work through in-house training and maintain/ update them.
  2. Conduct remote laser troubleshooting via e-mail, phone, or TEAMS, etc.
  3. Conduct on-site laser trouble shooting (investigations, replacement, and repairs, which include various inspections and handling optical fiber components) at customer factories in North America.
  4. Create, revise, and conclude maintenance contracts with customers and correspond as described in contracts. In the existing contract, AFI shall reply to the customer by phone or e-mail from 9:00 to 17:00 on the business days of AFI’s office (reply within 8 hours), respond outside the business hours as much as possible, and start to prepare for the on-site service within three (3) AFI business days after receiving customer requests.
  5. Conduct regular inspections for laser and/or laser-related products at customer factories in North America.
  6. Manage laser-related spare parts and handle shipment procedures, including necessary export control processes. (applying on FEC export control system or a corresponding system and getting approval from FEC, and confirming to AFI export control division that there are no concerns about EAR, etc. regarding exports prior to shipments)
  7. Manage the laser training center (FLD lab) as a Laser Safety Officer
  8. Manage tools and equipment necessary for FLD-related work
  9. Provide laser maintenance training for customers
  10. Conduct in-house maintenance training for newly hired service personnel
  11. Create, manage, and update FLD business-related documents
  12. Manage quotations and POs related to FLD business
  13. Responsible for FLD budget, including P/L
  14. Other duties as assigned by Sr. Vice President of ESD

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Engineering experience, 3-5 years
  2. Good communication skills (written and oral)
  3. Have a high level of safety awareness.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office
  5. Appropriate knowledge of the company’s products, customers and transactions (or ability to learn within a limited amount of time)
  6. Some knowledge of international trade
  7. Must have ability of driving and travel (both domestic and international)
  8. Must be able to work a non-standard work week, including holidays, sudden business trips to customer factories, nighttime meetings with Japan.
  9. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering field and at least three years of experience working as a service engineer in a science or engineering field.
  2. Prior knowledge in electrical engineering is preferred
  3. Experience working in Japanese business culture or language is preferred

  5. Ability to travel by plane or vehicle domestically and internationally
Minimum USD Salary: 85,000
Maximum USD Salary: 100,000
