SUMMARY

The Data Analyst within the FP& A department plays a key role in transforming financial and operational data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the manufacturing organization. This position supports budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and performance tracking by leveraging data analytics to improve financial visibility and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Financial Data Analysis:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze financial data from ERP, manufacturing, and accounting systems.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting by validating and visualizing key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Perform detailed variance analysis on production costs, material usage, and operating expenses.
  • Analyze profitability by product line, plant, or customer segment to guide strategic pricing and resource allocation decisions.

Forecasting & Budgeting Support:

  • Assist FP&A in building, maintaining, and improving financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
  • Identify trends in revenue, costs, and margins to support proactive financial planning.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to integrate operational metrics into financial forecasts.

Manufacturing Cost Analysis:

  • Analyze standard costs versus actuals and highlight variances for labor, material, and overhead.
  • Work with production and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support cost accounting functions by maintaining accurate cost data and improving cost traceability.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Develop dashboard and automated reports to provide real-time financial and operational insights (Power BI, or similar tools).
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency between accounting, operations, and supply chain systems.
  • Support ERP and business intelligence (BI) initiatives to enhance data integration and reporting efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with accounting, operations, and finance teams to align operational performance with financial results.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to management in a clear, data-driven format.
  • Participate in strategic projects such as margin improvement, capacity planning, and capital investment analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related field.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in data analytics or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, Power Query, Pivot Tables).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
  • Knowledge of SQL and BI tools.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting concepts and manufacturing metrics (OEE, cost per unit, yield, etc.).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with large datasets or automating reporting processes.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working cross-functionally between finance and operations.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit; to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and to talk or hear.
