JOB SUMMARY: The classroom teacher will create a flexible, developmentally appropriate environment where children can demonstrate personal growth, social skill, and language development as well as academic skills. EDUCATIONAL QULAIFICATIONS:
- State of Michigan Teacher Certification
- Endorsement in French, German, Japanese, Arabic or Spanish
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):
- Utilized the Michigan World Language Standards and Benchmarks correlated with the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning and organized around the 5Cs: communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, communities and contribute to a world language program that meets the needs of all learners
- Develops lesson plans an instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for
instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares report cards and other necessary documentation to report student growth and achievement.
- Maintains student classroom records using current district technology and expectations.
- Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
- Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues.
- Administers standardized and local assessments.
- Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.
- Participates in school improvement initiatives at the school level, committees and collaborative learning teams.
- Plans, organizes and provides instruction based on guidance from the Michigan Department of Education. Instruction must be consistent and coordinated with the districts instructional program so that students meet and exceed learning targets and the requirements outlined in the state and federal law.
- Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment rich with culturally responsive best practices, complete with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $46,500 – $95,517 Per the HFT Teacher Contract
