Description

SoftBank Robotics America, Inc. is a leader in workforce automation. We are seeking candidates with advanced AI expertise or the skills to leverage generative AI in practical applications who are looking to launch a career with a global leader in the automation industry. The Inventory Control Manager role is an exceptional hands-on opportunity to join a fast-growing team that is focused on shaping the future.

Your skills will be challenged as we seek to grow and expand our operations by leveraging your knowledge of AI and your own experience to facilitate the management and control of our inventory to support internal and external customer needs.

SoftBank Robotics America is leading a technological shift and this is an opportunity for you to grow your career by being hands-on and doing everything from creating statistical demand forecasts, to packing and preparing robots for shipment, to developing new processes and policies that streamline our operations.

The ideal candidate is: (1) passionate and disciplined about processes and compliance, (2) committed to excellent communication and efficiency, and (3) has a keen eye and the skills to develop process improvements and to identify ways to use generative AI tools to improve operations.

This position requires someone who sees opportunities for improvement and takes an “owner” mindset to bring these improvements to fruition!

Responsibilities include:

  • Demand planning using historical data and sales forecasts to ensure timely ordering and stocking.
  • General inventory control, including inventory alignment between warehouses, supply coordination, stock transfers, production tasks. Requires management of serialized inventory.
  • Inventory health management – turnover analysis, ABC analysis, cycle counting, aging/expiration, and twice-yearly physical inventory.
  • Process documentation, compliance, improvement, and monitoring to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Reporting and analysis of data from demand planning software, ERP/WMS systems, and other platforms.
  • Coordination with third-party warehouse staff to support scaling and improve internal efficiencies.
  • Management of inventory and inventory processes at third party repair centers
  • Root cause analysis (5 Whys / 8D / other methodology) to close gaps and continuously improve when issues are identified.
  • Physically receive, count, and stock spare parts and finished goods in the Boston warehouse. Record all transactions accurately and timely in SAP, SFDC, and other internal tools.
  • Compliance with all internal and external SLAs and targets.

Requirements

Skills needed

  • Holistic thinking – both the ability to follow a process, and consider it’s preceding and following steps, their gaps, and their impacts; and the ability to work without a process, understanding intent and goals and downstream impacts.
  • Technology proficiency – able to learn new tools and experiment in their implementation (including AI tools, new software, unused functions of existing tools, etc.)
  • Ability to synthesize information – able to distill findings and present in a manner appropriate to the audience.

This role requires a balance of both desk/knowledge work, and hands-on work in a warehouse environment. This is approximately a 50/50 split with the intent to shift to an 80/20 split, focused on knowledge work, as the role develops.

On a daily basis, the Logistics and Supply Chain team is involved in receiving and shipping LTL/FTL/parcel shipments, import/export, stock keeping, pick and pack, etc.

The person who is appropriate for this role will be able and willing to step in as required to support shifting daily priorities and as a way to learn about our processes and business needs.

While no single candidate may embody all the qualifications below, an ideal candidate will possess many of the following skills and abilities:

  • The ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Advanced Excel skills, as well as familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Data analysis experience is required, with a focus on statistical forecasting
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, or related field; or comparable experience
  • Experienced in AI tools to streamline tasks and operations
  • ERP, WMS, and TMS experience is preferred
  • Previous warehouse, logistics, supply chain experience required
  • General familiarity with parcel and freight shipping required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
    • Japanese, Spanish, or Mandarin language proficiency is a plus!
  • Must be disciplined, adaptable, team oriented, determined, and competitive!
