TITLE: JAPANTOWN NAVIGATORS SUPERVISOR

POSITION: TEMPORARY (MARCH 1 – NOVEMBER 30, 2026); PART-TIME (8 HOURS PER WEEK)

COMPENSATION: $25 – $27 PER HOUR

LOCATION: Hybrid. Office location is 22 PEACE PLAZA EAST MALL 2F #533, SAN FRANCISCO, CA.

Today, JCYC annually serves over 7,000 young people from all backgrounds and provides a continuum of care from preschool through college. ABOUT JAPANTOWN TASK FORCE (JTF)

The Japantown Task Force, Inc. (JTF), a non-profit planning and preservation organization located in San Francisco Japantown, is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Japantown Navigators Supervisor. A program of the JTF, the Japantown Cultural District is the first San Francisco Cultural District and is funded by the Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development to address cultural heritage preservation and promotion.

The Japantown Task Force, Inc. is fiscally sponsored by the Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All contractors and employees of the Japantown Task Force, Inc. are subject to JCYC’s employment policies and procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center Director, the Japantown Navigators Supervisor will supervise, coach, and mentor San Francisco high school or college students or seniors/retirees in the Japantown Navigators 2026 Cohort (a paid opportunity), and coordinate guest speakers and presenters as part of the curriculum. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional administrative professional who is highly organized, has mentorship experience, possesses advanced digital media skills, and is a strong communicator, both written and verbal. This position will report to the Executive Director.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supervise, mentor, coach Navigators cohort members at the Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center, located in the Japan Center EAST Mall.
  2. Manage scheduling for cohort members during operational days.
  3. Conduct virtual and text-based check-ins with cohort members.
  4. Develop training activities for cohort members, including scheduling of guest speakers.
  5. Complete weekly program reporting.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Demonstrated experience in working with youth, especially high school and/or college students OR with seniors/retirees. Work experience in underserved communities is highly desirable.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience directly relevant to the position.
  3. Proficiency with the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google tools
  4. (Calendar, Drive, Doc, Sheets, Slides).
  5. Solid written and oral communication skills.
  6. Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  7. Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
  8. Ability to develop work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  9. Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing work contexts.
  10. Demonstrated sensitivity to racial, ethnic, social, and economic diversity.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation for this position is $25-$27/HR, based on experience. JCYC offers:

  • Sick pay. No benefits and vacation accrual.
  • 30 minute lunch break if working more than 5 hours in a day.
