Position Summary

The Department of Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a Limited-term Instructor of Japanese to begin in August 2026. The course load is up to 12 credit hours per semester, primarily focusing on Japanese language instruction. Responsibilities include teaching, attending Japanese program meetings, and monitoring students. Limited-term faculty may be renewed annually for a maximum of two years. Any request for reappointment beyond the second year requires pre-approval by the Provost.

Additional Requirements

  • M.A. or PhD in language pedagogy, linguistics, or related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • At least two years of college-level Japanese language teaching experience.
  • Candidates must be currently legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese (native or near-native proficiency) and English are required.

  • The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level language teaching and possess specialized knowledge and proven results in Japanese language pedagogy.
